Bog Hotel
MATERIAL: Wood
LOCATION: Soomaa, Estonia
TUTORS: b210 architects, Hannes Praks, Sami Rintala
PARTICIPANTS: Flooded summer school students
YEAR: 2018
The bog hotel was designed and built in the summer of 2018, within the framework of the Flooded summer school. The space fits up to 15 people, exactly the size of the summer school student group that designed and built it. In case of unusually high flooding, the number of beds will diminish slightly, as the lower level will flood – and the building can be exited and entered via the extra flood-level door facing Tõramaa River. Within regular Soomaa flood conditions, however, all beds should remain dry. The bog hotel is self-catering, open, and free of charge.
